On November 1, St. Andrew's Camp hosted a celebration to thank our benefactors, supporters and volunteers. Their contributions have benefited hundreds ovf campers and made possible many wonderful improvements in our facilities and programs. We also blessed and dedicated our new Dining Hall as well as our older buildings to saints who have been close to those at St. Andrew's Camp- St. Michael the Archangel. St . Olga of Alaska, St. Herman of Alaska, St. Seraphim of Sarov and St. Joseph the Betrothed.and is so doing, asking their intercession for the continued growth and nurturing activities of this camp.
The Divine LIturgy was celebrated by His Eminence Archbishop Michael with Fr. Jason Vansuch, Fr. Gregory Fedorchak and Fr. Ambrose Inlow and then followed by the procession to each building with His Eminence blessing each room in each building! We were all moved by the commitment of those in attendance to the ministry of this Diocesan Camp. Posters created by Susan Selby and a slide program created by Board Member Timothy Halligan, made visible the history and ongoing progress of the camp. A festal dinner prepared by our expert culinary team of Katherine Rigo, Kevin Williams, Gerda Mortelette and Patricia DePalma was enjoyed and accompanied by inspirational words from His Eminence about the camp and the importance of this ministry to youth and their families and communities in this contemporary challenging culture . Fr. Gregoryy spoke of his own experiences at the camp and provided anecdotes of the lives- both campers, staff and volunteers- changed by their camp adventure.. . Board of Directors Vice President Doug Selby
thanked the attendees, the volunteers, the benefactors and supporters for their sacrifices of time, talent and treasures citing these sacrifices as the only way that this camp could offer the facilities and programs that it does. Board Member Marilyn Brady educated attendees to the camp's newest giving platform- Give Butter. Culminating the event were short performances of music by some of our campers . A beautiful mounted icon of St. Olga of Alaska, which another of our board members Fr. Ignatius Gauvain had especially created for this event, was given as a gift to each family in attendance. Glory to God for all things!
